I can't believe how far behind I am getting with my posts again!! Need to organise myself and set a specific time each week for updating I think!
So, the Friday before last saw the first week of our new format. As I said in my last post the first topic is le corps (the body) and our songs each week include such favourites as"tête, épaules, genoux, pieds", "ça bouge", "savez vous planter les choux?"
Our craft for this first "le corps" session was to make our very own interactive fuzzy felt M. Patate (mr. potato head).
To make your own you will need:
Card
Felt in a variety of colours
Scissors
First choose a colour for your potato's body and cut a potato body shape out. Glue this on to your card in the centre.
Next, use the other felt colours to make mr potato head's other body parts, you will need at least one set of ears, eyes, nose, mouth, feet/shoes and arms. Of course the more options you make the more fun for your little one and the more language learning opportunities e.g as well as introducing le nez (nose) you can introduce the idea of bigger and smaller (plus gros/plus petit) etc. You can also make hats, bags, etc for your mr (or mrs) potato head to be decorated with.
The great thing about felt is that it sticks to itself easily (if it doesn't want to comply gently rub the back of the pieces with a synthetic scourer and that should help). Some of our little ones made foam parts for their potato heads - no problem, we just added some sticky backed Velcro to make them stick :0)
So, here are our fabulous potato people:
